Santa Cruz County Medical Reserve Corps

Thank you for your interest in the Santa Cruz County Medical Reserve Corps, sponsored by SCCMS. It is rewarding to have so many of you express interest in participating in the organization. As of March 2014 there are more than 512 volunteer members in Santa Cruz County, they include nurses, physicians, and other health care workers. MRC volunteers are trained to work within existing County emergency response structures to provide enhanced surge capacity, triage and emergency health services to our community in the event of major disasters such as earthquakes, pandemics, or terrorist events. There are opportunities to assist in other emergency preparedness activities such as disaster exercises, mass immunization clinics, and community education activities.

The MRC’s web site at Santa Cruz County Medical Reserve Corps is where you will find information on the mission and action plan, volunteer application form, personal and family preparedness web site links, the SCCMRC newsletter, links to related organizations and other information about our local MRC.  The MRC Coordinator is SCCMS staff member Mary Champlin.  Contact her at the SCCMS office (831-479-7226) or send an email to nancy.yellin@santacruzcounty.us.
